Indian Mobile operator pushed Indian Government to delay the introduction of mobile number portability by three month.Previously Government decided to introduce mobile number portability in India from 31st December,2009.Ministry of Communications and Information Technology said that “The government has now decided to implement it in whole of the country in one go, by 31st March 2010″ .

Mobile user can switch from one mobile operator to another mobile operator without changing the mobile number.But no mobile operator want to loose market in this tough competition.

Telecom Regulator Authority Of India plan to introduce 11 digit mobile number in India. Currently Indian mobile have 10 digit mobile number. Current mobile user in India is more than 50 Crore.Every month 1.5 Crore new mobile user added. But in 10 digit mobile number, only 100 Crore mobile number is possible.

TRAI expect that within next 2 year,Indian number of mobile user exceed 100 Crore.

11 digit mobile number roll out in India is still a long process. Huge technical change is needed to implement this change in India.Indian telecom company said that 11 digit mobile number roll out in India need at least 12-18 month time.

TRAI also advised to provided unused mobile number to other new mobile user. It will also help to change the infrastructure to implement 11 digit mobile number in India.
