If you work in an office building there are basic steps you should take to help ensure your safety and survival if you should ever be caught in a fire or other critical situation and you needed to evacuate the building. Every building has unique characteristics including design, construction, condition and use. As a result, these fire safety tips highlight only the basics of emergency evacuation.
What should you do in an emergency?
- Do not panic in case of fire emergency and stay calm.
- Get trained hands-on in the use of fire extinguishers.
- Report to security / admin when you notice a fire outbreak.
- Be aware of the location of fire extinguishers placed on your floor
- Be aware of thethe emergency escape routes and assembly point
- Be aware of the the fire marshals and fire wardens on your floor
- Be aware of the the emergency contact numbers within the facility
- Be aware of the the locations of Manual Call Points (MCPs)
- Do not change the location and type of fire extinguishers on the floor.
- Participate in the fire evacuation mock drills with due seriousness.
- Assist any differently-abled colleagues and expectant mothers during emergency evacuation.
