TCS show the below mentioned reason For Daily Meal Price Hike:
- TCS can engage only quality vendors who comply with various regulations enforced by Govt and TCS policy. Some major ones are payment of minimum wages (enforced by Govt and revised every 6 months), PF and ESI benefits to their employees, etc.
- Comparison of price across other TCS offices is often misleading. In Kolkata, vendors pay 12.5% tax whereas in Chennai it is just 4%. Price also depends on the type of menu and local cost. While it is mostly non-veg in Kolkata, other places are serving mostly veg which has high margin even at lower price.
- RKHS has given notice for revision in other TCS offices as well. There are multiple vendors with significantly higher rate card operating at various locations.
- Cost of raw materials have increased significantly over past 2 years when the price was last reviewed.
Canteen Committee representatives of all buildings and proposed marginal hike (6-8%) in limited items. However, the vendors have expressed their inability to continue even with proposed revision.
